It surprises savvy contact lens shoppers to learn our prices are comparable to, and sometimes lower than, online contact lens retailers such as 1800Contacts®. An example is the new Acuvue® Advance Plus Contact Lenses. 1800Contacts® charges $153.92 for an annual supply of 48 Acuvue® Advance Plus contact lenses ( $76.96 / Box of 24). Dr Elman charges $150.00 for an annual supply of 48 Acuvue® Advance Plus Contact Lenses and includes free shipping. You will probably get your lenses a week sooner from Dr Elman!
When you order lenses from your doctor you know it is always going to be exactly "what the doctor ordered," not a substitute. When lenses are ordered online the online vendor must contact the prescribing doctor's office to get a verification of lens parameters, date of exam, and expiration date of prescription. When you order the lenses directly from your doctor, he has all that information on hand so there is a convenience and time savings in not having to make an extra call, fax or e-mail for prescription verification. The lenses can be sent immediately.
Most manufacturers of disposable contact lenses offer mail-in rebates for quantity orders of their product in addition to volume discounted pricing on annual supplies. The quantity discounts apply whether contacts are picked up at doctor's office or shipped directly to patient (shipping is free). Rebates usually require a copy of a receipt of your recent eye examination for contact lenses, receipt of contact lens purchase, and box tops or UPC code from the contact lens boxes. The manufactures rebates are not available from most discount sources (either online or warehouse stores). We supply to you all documentation to get these rebates. Once we have determined the proper contact lens parameters for patient the patient can order contact lenses either at our office or online. The most popular contact lenses can be ordered online in our Products section. Lenses ordered either way can be shipped directly to patient.
